We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Northumberland Standard Distance Duathlon has been selected as an Age Group Qualifier for the 2025 World Championship.

If you are looking to qualify for the 2025 World Championship Standard Duathlon, athletes must register their intent to qualify by 5pm on the Friday before the qualifying event. Please click here to register your intent to qualify. No late registrations will count

Located within the stunning Druridge Bay Country Park which is situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coastline. The stunning Druridge bay country park is the perfect venue for  the Northumberland Duathlon. This is the perfect event for you those wishing to do their first Duathlon and for those chasing their personal best. 

The Northumberland Duathlon is a fantastic event and has previously hosted a British Triathlon European age group world championship qualifier.

Races

Sprint Distance Duathlon   - Distance: Run 5.75km / Bike 19km / Run 5.75km 

Standard Distance Duathlon  (Age Group Qualifier) - Distance: Run 11.5km / Bike 38km / Run 5.75km 

The minimum age for the sprint distance is 15 years old on 31st December 2024, and for the standard distance event is 17 years old on 31st December 2024.

Details

The run route follows the footpath that winds its way through the woods and meadows that surround the lake. The bike route will take you out of the Country Park along the flat coastal route. 

Following on from the success of its sister event, The Northumberland Triathlon. The Duathlon distances and courses are well suited to beginners and equally attractive to seasoned competitors and those Competitors wishing to move up from a short sprint to a longer standard distance duathlon. An ideal event to start your season!

Druridge Bay Country Parks is located on a beautiful stretch of Northumberland coastline next to the stunning Druridge bay beach. It is a popular place to cycle, run, swim, walk, paddle, sail, and surf. The Country Park comprises of a café, Visitors centre, outdoor children’s play area, sheltered picnic areas, camping, caravanning and motor home facilities for you to enjoy and relax. Perfect for a fun family day out, or you could make a weekend of it!
